01.
Discovery & Understanding

Starting with a blank slate was both exciting and challenging. Without an existing brand identity or digital presence, every detail had to be built from the ground up. I held multiple discovery sessions to dig deep into the client’s vision, knowing that a surface-level understanding wouldn’t be enough.

I wasn’t just asking, “What do you want on the website?”—I was asking, “What does this space mean to you?”

Through these sessions, three priorities became clear:

03.
Style Guide Development

A style guide isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about making sure the entire experience feels cohesive and intentional.

I chose Libre Baskerville for its classic elegance, giving the site a sense of history, while Raleway kept the body text modern and easy to read. The deep greens, soft sages, and warm creams weren’t just random choices—they reflected the venue’s organic, intimate atmosphere.

For buttons and forms, I stripped away unnecessary elements, using square buttons with underlining and color shifts for contrast. The goal? Clarity, not clutter.

The booking system had to be effortless. The biggest challenge? Anticipating user hesitation.

Would users know what to do at first glance? Would they feel uncertain about their next step?

I focused on clear labeling, logical step-by-step navigation, and removing unnecessary friction. Every interaction needed to guide users toward completion, not confusion.

I rigorously tested the system myself, identifying pain points before presenting it to the client.

02.
Sketching & Wireframing

Armed with a clear direction, I went straight into sketching. I focused on two core pages first:

• A clear, welcoming layout for the landing page to introduce the venue.

A streamlined booking page to guide users through selecting an event type, date, and duration.

I had to make sure the flow felt natural—that a user visiting the site for the first time would instantly understand how to book the space without feeling overwhelmed.

After using the sketches to create wireframes in Figma, I transferred them into Wix Studio where I could prototype interactions and test how motion might guide users through the site.

06.
SEO, Compliance & Post-Launch Optimization

A website isn’t just about design — it needs to be found and function smoothly.

I crafted the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Accessibility Statement from scratch, ensuring transparency and inclusivity.

To boost visibility, I implemented:

• Keyword optimization in headings and descriptions.

• Meta descriptions & alt text to improve search engine indexing.

• Google Search Analytics tracking to monitor engagement.

The first week after launch, I stayed hands-on — monitoring performance, making tweaks, and guiding the client through site management.

Post-Launch Refinements, Growth & Key Takeaways

Post-Launch Refinements

Even after launch, I wasn’t done. I fine-tuned responsive elements and adjusted small design details to ensure consistency across devices.

Expanding Online Presence & Growth Strategy

Beyond the website, I aimed to help the client establish a stronger digital presence, including:

• Creating branded social media pages to increase engagement and reach.

• Leveraging SEO insights to refine content and improve search visibility.

Client guidance for long-term site management.

Key Takeaways

This project reinforced key lessons in UX/UI design, problem-solving, and client collaboration:

Attention to detail matters. Small refinements enhance both design quality and user experience.

A website is just the beginning. Growth continues through SEO, social media, and iteration.

Collaboration shapes the best solutions. Thoughtful discovery and feedback loops ensured this site wasn’t just functional—it told a story.

05.
Client Feedback & Revisions

Client feedback is where a project truly evolves.

One of the biggest revisions was the logo. The initial design didn’t quite capture the essence of the venue, so I went back to the drawing board—literally. Multiple sketches, feedback loops, and refinements later, we landed on a design that felt authentic to the brand.

Another key revision was the About section. The initial version felt too generic, and the client wanted it to feel more personal. I rewrote it to emphasize the venue’s family legacy and cultural significance, making it resonate with visitors on a deeper level.

The client also requested a map feature to help visitors find the venue more easily—something I hadn’t originally considered but made perfect sense. Integrating it improved the user experience significantly.

The Objective:

This project was about more than just creating a website—it was about bringing a vision to life and capturing the essence of a historic, community-driven space and making it accessible in a modern digital format. The client’s deep personal connection to the venue meant every design choice had to honor its history while ensuring usability for both the client and users.
